<p>È ancora una volta motivo di grande onore e soddisfazione annunciare la
disponibilità di FreeBSD 5.2.1-RELEASE. Questa è una release 'minore', ed è
dedicata alla sistemazione di diversi bug e vulnerabilità trovati nella
release 5.2 di FreeBSD. Questi includono:</p>
<ul>
<li>Un significativo miglioramento della gestione dell'ATA/IDE e del SATA.
Problemi con timeout, errori di ripristino, e con certe configurazioni
master/slave sono stati in gran parte risolti.</li>
<li>Il package <tt>kdeadmin3</tt> è stato aggiornato per risolvere un problema
di corruzione del database delle password trovato nel tool KUser.</li>
<li>I moduli di terze-parti NSS supportano ora gruppi con molti utenti.</li>
<li>Le modalità di funzionamento multicast e promiscue del driver ethernet
'sk' sono state sistemate, permettendo di operare in ambiente DHCP.</li>
<li>Aggiornamenti recenti al server XFree86 4.3 per contrastare diverse
vulnerabilità di sicurezza che sono state pubblicate.</li>
</ul>
<p>Inoltre FreeBSD 5.2.1 contiene numerosi e significativi miglioramenti per
quanto concerne stabilità e sicurezza rispetto a FreeBSD 5.2. Tuttavia, è
ancora da considerare una release contenente "Nuove Tecnologie" e potrebbe non
essere adeguata a tutti gli utenti. Quelli con necessità più conservative
potrebbero preferire continuare ad utilizzare FreeBSD 4.X. Informazioni sui

<p>FreeBSD 5.2.1-RELEASE supporta le architetture i386, pc98, alpha, sparc64,
amd64, e ia64 e può essere installato direttamente via rete usando i
dischetti di boot oppure può essere copiato da un server locale NFS/FTP.
