* Articles/Status reports: Update deadlinesLorenzo Salvadore2 days1-25/+11
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | As discussed on developers@ the actual deadlines are not working. It happens frequently that many reports are submitted past the deadline and that publication gets stalled until all expected reports have arrived. Hence, from now on, - we shall have a unique deadline on the 14th of the first month past the end of the quarter; - the deadline will be actually enforced: the full status reports shall be published as soon as ready after the deadline. Reports that could not make it within the deadline shall be moved (and possibly completed) to the next quarter. | | | | | | | | | | | | This article has not been updated in years. There is so much wrong, that it will need to be tackled in multiple patches. This first patch simply states that the article is Bugzilla-specific, and that any use of "PR" means "Bugzilla Problem Report". In a few cases, this is now spelled out explicitly. * Problem-Reports: Indicate parts are for BugzillaMark Linimon2025-11-111-18/+25
| | | | | | | | | | | | | This Article was written long before Phabricator and Pull Requests were accepted ways to submit change requests or bug issues to FreeBSD. As a first step to bringing it up to date, disambiguate the "PR" term, and spell it out as "Bugzilla Problem Request". There are many more problems here to be solved. * committers-guide: Increase subject length limit to 67 charactersEd Maste2025-07-311-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | I originally suggested a 63-character limit "so that git log --oneline avoids wrapping." Short hashes in the tree are typically 12 characters, and a space between the hash and the subject should result in a limit of 67 characters. I think I arrived at 63 by subtracting git's typical 4-space indentation from 67, but that indent is not applicable to `git log --oneline`. * committers-guide: Drop notion of reference architecturesJohn Baldwin2025-06-021-3/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | i386 can no longer be a reference architecture in 15.0 and later. Instead, require new portable features to work on at least one Tier 1 architecture and drop the notion of a separate set of reference architectures.
